Each year, the Action Alliance Training Institute trains over 1,000 professionals working in the fields of sexual and domestic violence. The Virginia Sexual & Domestic Violence Training Institute was established in 1996 to meet the ongoing demand for education and training presented by professionals working in sexual and domestic violence programs as well as those working in allied fields. Contracted “faculty members” complete a rigorous training before being accepted into the Institute. Faculty members (Word Document) come from various professional backgrounds (Social Work, Mental Health, Batterer Intervention, Education, Legal) and train on a number of different topics. Those trainings are listed on this website. Additional trainings are available on request.
Every year, the Training Institute creates new curricula to meet the growing need for training that is thought-provoking and relevant for professionals. In order to ensure that a new training reflects current best practices, we gather experienced professionals on that particular topic for a “focus group” brainstorming session to help identify what information to present and what kind of materials would be helpful to participants.
