ROESAS:
Rural Outreach Enhancement of Sexual Assault Services

The Alliance along with DCJS are coming together to focus on sexual violence in rural communities because there are a unique set of challenges and opportunities associated with more sparsely populated rural counties.  The ROESAS project will enhance services to victims of sexual violence by strengthening the net of community resources that is in place in participating rural communities. 

The ROESAS project will bring support and training to rural communities to facilitate the development of coordinated community responses that have not yet implemented such coordination, and to strengthen that response in communities that have a history of responding in a coordinated manner, particularly as it relates to serving traditionally underserved populations.

ROESAS will offer monthly conference calls for rural sexual assault services providers, as well as an interactive bulletin board allowing for the exchange of resources and information.  A support staff will be in place to focus on the development and expansion of coordinated community response teams which include the facilitation of a community needs assessment process designed to assess the current services in place for victims.
